This Advent, experience an evening of music and hope with The Methodist Festival Choir, Orchestra and Children’s Choir.  From the wonder of creation to the joy and peace the season promises, “And On Earth, Peace” celebrates the longing for harmony, compassion and goodwill among all people.

We present our guest conductor for the evening, Dr Michael Burkhardt, internationally recognised for his innovative and inspiring hymn festivals, as well as his creative work with children. Dr Burkhardt serves as Artist-Professor of Organ at Eastern Michigan University, USA and is the Founder and Artistic Director of the hearts, hands and voices Worship and Fine Arts Program for Children in Southeast Michigan.

The Methodist Festival Choir, a 12-year old distinguished choral ensemble, with the accompaniment of a 35-piece Orchestra and a Children’s Choir, will present a radiant blend of traditional carols, contemplative Advent hymns and contemporary choral reflections celebrating light, hope, peace and the wonder of the season.

From the joyful proclamation of All Things Bright and Beautiful to the haunting anticipation of Veni, Veni Emmanuel and the jubilant rhythms of Gaudete and Mary Had a Baby, the program weaves together diverse musical expressions of the season. Pieces like Night of Silence, How Long, O Lord, and The Work of Christmas invite moments of introspection and hope, while beloved classics such as Hark! The Herald Angels Sing and Silent Night offer timeless comfort. Together, these works celebrate the light, peace, and transformative love that Advent and Christmas bring to the world.
